簡介
=======

“晨光”是雙語電腦讀屏軟件，以中國語言(普通話或粵語)和英語報讀電腦屏幕上的訊息。它能令視障人士有效地操作“微軟視窗”作業系統，及一些常用的應用程式，包括：
- 文字處理程式(MS Word)；
- 試算表 (MS Excel)；
- 記事本 (Word Pad)；
- 筆記本 (Note Pad)；
- 網頁瀏覽器 (Internet Explorer)；
- 電子郵件程式(Outlook Express)。

“晨光”現有三種版本，包括：
-- 以粵語 / 英語報讀，運行於大五碼系統(即繁體中文)；
-- 以普通話 / 英語報讀，運行於大五碼系統(即繁體中文)；
-- 以普通話 / 英語報讀，運行於國標碼系統(即簡體中文)。
這三種版本具有一致的功能和特點。

“晨光”讀屏程式將繼續提升，以涵蓋更多功能及視窗應用程式。下一個目標是提供點字摸讀器的界面。

系統要求
===========

硬件：

具以下裝置的IBM或兼容的個人電腦。
—Intel 80586或以上中央處理器；
—1GB或以上硬碟機；
—128MB或以上記憶體；
—音效卡。

軟件：

—“微軟視窗 98”（Microsoft Windows 98）或以上版本之中文大五碼（BIG5）或英文作業系統；
—Microsoft Active Accessibility Redistribution Kit 1.1 或以上版本（此程式可在“微軟”網站下載。Windows XP作業系統則已包含此程式）；
--英語報后採用微軟SAPI 4.0版，或任何其他兼容MSSAPI 4.0的文字轉換語音程式(MSSAPI 4.0版可在微軟網站下載)。
--普通話報讀需要與MSSAPI 4.0版兼容的中文文字轉換語音程式，例如IBM中文文字轉換語音程式3.x版。
--粵語報讀所需語音程式已包含在本軟件內。

“晨光”讀屏程式獨立運作，不影響視窗的其他作業，不會損壞或改變視窗系統的檔案內容，因此在閣下的電腦運行“晨光”是絕對安全的。然而，使用者在決定使用“晨光”時，應自行承擔風險。創作人不會接受使用者歸咎“晨光”對其硬件、軟件或數據構成任何損壞或損失的責任。

安裝程序
=================

1. 啟動“晨光”的安裝執行檔(WLSetup.exe)。

2. 在出現對話框時，點擊“Install”或按“Enter”鍵。確保“晨光”的儲存路徑為“C:\”。安裝完成后，桌面會新增“Windows Light”圖示。

3. 您必須安裝MSAPI4.0以配合“晨光”報讀功能，方法是把MSAPI4.exe放置在一個新的資料夾解壓，啟動裡面的兩個執行檔(.exe)，即完成安裝MSAPI4.0。

4. 上述安裝完成后，雙擊桌桌面上的“Windows Ligh”圖示，或執行“晨光”資料夾(C:\LIGHT)中的執行檔(WLight.exe)，便可啟動“晨光”的讀屏功能。

在“晨光”資料夾啟動執行檔的方法是：

- 按下“Wins”鍵開啟視窗的“開始”功能表。
- 按“R”鍵以選取功能表中的“執行”。
- 在檔案名稱欄中鍵入“c:\light\wlight.exe”。

若一切操作無誤，會聽到粵語讀出“晨光”，表示讀屏程式已運作。

Introduction
------------

Windows Light is a screen reading software which outputs screen teXt in English and Cantonese
speech. It enables visually impaired persons to operate effectively in the Microsoft Windows
environment and the most commonly used packagess, including the following:

- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Word Pad
- Note Pad
- Internet Explorer
- Outlook Express

Windows Light will be upgraded continuously to incorporate additional functionalities
and cover more Windows-based utilities. The next objective is to provide an interface to
braille output device.

System Requirements
-------------------

Hardware:

- IBM or compatible PC with:-
- Intel 80586 CPU or above
- a hard drive with a size of at least 1 GB
- RAM of at least 128 MB
- a sound card

Software

- Microsoft Windows 98 or later (English or Chinese BIG5 version)
- Microsoft Active Accessibility Redistrbution Kit 1.1 or later
(this can be downloaded from the Microsoft web site)
For Windows XP users, the redistribution kit is already bunddled with the system.
- Microsoft Speech API 4.0 for English speech

Disclaimer
----------

Windows Light runss on its own without interfering with any operation
of Windows. It does not corrupt or change the content of any system
files or the Windows registry. It is therefore absolutely safe to
run Windows Light on your system. Despite this, all users should
bear in mind that in deciding to use Windows light, they do so at
their own risk. The author does not accept responsibility for any
corruption or damage to hardware, software or data which a user
may attribute to Windows Light.

Set Up Procedures
=================

1. Run the WLSetup.exe file.

2. In the dialogue box which appears, click Install or press ENTER.
Make sure that the extract directory is left as c:\. After a while
the instalation will complete with an Icon entitled "Windows Light"
placed on the desktop.

3. If you have not installed MSAPI 4.0 before, explode the MSAPI4.exe
file into a folder and run the two exe files generated. MSAPI 4.0
will now have been installed.

4. To start Windows Light, double_click the ICon on the desktop or
run the WLight.exe file in the c:\Light directory. To do the
latter:
- Press the Window key to trigger the Start Menu;
- Select Run from the menu or type R;
- In the File Name text box which appears, type c:\light\wlight

If all goes well, you should hear the system say Windows Light, meaning that the software is in operation.
